Once the initial estimation and planning for the maintenance change request is done, detailed analysis of the requirements
must be carried out. This is done to confirm the technology configurations items impacted by the maintenance change request
and the modifications that need to be made. The design may also get modified as a result of the maintenance change request.
If the maintenance change request is of the bug fixing type, the Delivery Team must reproduce the bug and analyze the fix.
An existing list of defects should be checked for known problems and its solution or workaround (if available). In case no
such record is available, detailed impact analysis must be performed to analyze the potential consequence of the modified
change in the system. Based on the impact analysis, the initial estimates may need to be revisited.
Once the requirement analysis is completed, the Delivery Team must work on the design modifications, if required. The
functional and technical aspects of the design must be considered, and the details must be properly captured and
documented. This step may not be applicable if the maintenance change request is of type bug fixing or testing. The
documented impact analysis and design specifications must be reviewed and communicated to all relevant stakeholders.
